Volodymyr Mezentsev is a specialist in medieval and modern Ukrainian and Byzantine archaeology, history, architecture, and art and the author of 283 publications on these subjects. He completed his post-doctoral studies at the Ukrainian Research Institute of Harvard University. Mezentsev was a Research Associate with the Department of Kyivan Rus’ Studies at the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Kyiv, and later with the Pontifical Institute of Mediaeval Studies at the University of Toronto, Canada. Presently, he is a Research Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies (CIUS), Edmonton and Toronto, and Executive Director of the Canada-Ukraine Baturyn Archaeological Project, sponsored by CIUS (2001-).
