This volume brings together a rich selection of sixteen analytical essays and seven programmatic statements written by those directly involved in the struggle of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA). The problems addressed include German and Russian imperialism, the nature of fascism and its relation to communism, and the strategy and tactics of the Ukrainian national-liberation movement. There is a comprehensive introduction, and each essay is fully annotated.

Peter J. Potichnyj completed his higher education with a B.A. from Temple University and an M.A. and a Ph.D. from Columbia University. He taught political science at Uppsala College, Sir Wilfred Laurier University, the Ukrainian Free University, and McMaster University, where he is professor emeritus.
