Danylo H. Struk (1940–99) was a graduate of Harvard University, the University of Alberta, and the University of Toronto. Struk was the author of Vasyl Stefanyk: The Pain at the Heart of Existence and was Editor-in-Chief of the Encyclopedia of Ukraine. A literary scholar who published studies of Ukrainian writers (M. Khvylovy, V. Vynnychenko, E. Andiievska, I. Kalynets, and others), Struk also translated works by V. Stefanyk, L. Kostenko, V. Symonenko, H. Chubai, and V. Vynnychenko into English and T.S. Eliot, W. Kinsella, and T. Galay into Ukrainian.
