Roman Solchanyk is a specialist on Ukraine and post-Soviet nationality affairs. He is the author of Ukraine: The Road to Independece (1996), Ukraine and Russia (2000), and coeditor of Cultures and Nations of Central and Eastern Europe: Essays in Honor of Roman Szporluk (2001). He has published widely in scholarly journals and symposia on East European history and Soviet nationality problems. Previously he worked at the RFE/RL Research Institute in Munich and is currently a consultant at the RAND Corporation.
